The Teacher
Ben is an experienced music educator specialising in violin, viola, and piano instruction, with a particular focus on music college preparation and orchestral audition coaching for young professionals. He holds an undergraduate degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Master’s degree from the Royal Northern College of Music. Ben now teaches exclusively through his private practice, providing one-to-one guidance tailored to each student’s technical development, musical expression, and performance goals.
Previously, Ben has taught for Wigan Music Service, Rossall School, and School of Rock Lancashire, and has served as Viola Coach for the Greater Manchester Youth String Orchestra. His teaching combines practical strategies, mentorship, and personalised audition preparation to help young musicians succeed in conservatoire applications, orchestral auditions, and professional music careers.

As a teacher, Ben offers private lessons in viola, violin, piano, trombone, and music theory for students from beginner level and through Grades 1–8. For more advanced musicians, he provides specialist coaching in music college preparation, young professional orchestral audition training, and chamber and orchestral group coaching.
